I know it was my idea, but I'm blaming you, ~MigrantJ for this one!
Here's Kit Kittredge, 1930's girl from the American Girl series ( [link] ), aged to 18 and done in pinup style appropriate to the 30s as best as a 15-second Google could demonstrated for me.
As she has a thing for hobo stew, I decided to feature that prominently in this piece.

To save money during the tough times of the Great Depression, Kit's family reused everything, even the cloth sacks that chicken feed came in! As Kit apparently hadn't gotten a new dress since she was 10, everyone decided it was best that some cloth bags go towards clothing her bottom. Everyone but Stirling, a male boarder Kit's age, agreed. (You can see him making eyes at her here: [link] )
